A.J.Gascoigne & Son have served the local community for over 35 years and we provide a complete funeral service tailored to your wishes to ensure your loved one has the funeral of their choice.
We open our function room on mother’s day and father’s day for refreshments, for visitors of the cemetery to pop in for a cuppa whilst visiting loved ones. Every Christmas we hold an ‘Evening of reflection’ memorial service for families who have lost loved ones to come together allowing them to light candles and place messages on our tree. We support local businesses and donate annually to the local Bowling, Boxing and Golf clubs Due to the closure of the local churchyard in 1994, a year later we opened our own cemetery now known as ‘Woodhorn Cemetery’. It is owned and maintained by ourselves and is exclusive to clients of A.J. Gascoigne & Son. This is unique in this country as the majority of burial grounds are owned by the church or the local authority. In August 2018 a new extension was opened allowing Woodland burials to take place in Wansbeck. Go to our Woodland burial section for more information. There is also a provision for the burial of ashes or to place them in our memorial wall.
