NAFD member firms must abide a Code of Practice. The members regularly have onsite inspections and are offered guidance and support in reaching the highest standards. The NAFD a protects consumers by offering a free, independent dispute resolution service, allowing complaints against NAFD members to be handled without stressful confrontation.
The FCA has regulated the pre-paid funeral plan market since July 2022, requiring all plan providers to be authorised and follow strict rules, including protecting customer money and guaranteeing a funeral or a full refund. Providers are either registered as a Principal Firm or as an Authorised Representative of a Principal Firm.

SAIF members are inspected against a Code of Practice. The Code of Practice has been developed to encourage and assist members to deliver the highest standards of service and act in the best interests of bereaved families. SAIF also offers a bereavement support and a complaints resolution service.
