ABOUT DIXONS FUNERAL SERVICE By your side since 1910 Dixon & Brierley began life as possibly Rochdale’s first Taxi company at some point in the late 1800’s. We were based in a car shed opposite Rochdale train station and ferried wealthy cotton merchants to and from the station in some of the earliest cars to be seen in the area. Albert Embley Dixon founded Dixons Funeral Service in 1910 and we were based on Exeter Street in Deeplish, the first Chapels of Rest in the town. Almost 90 years later we moved to our new purpose built premises on Manchester Road where we still are today. We are still a family owned company with over 110 years of caring for the local community, and we use our expertise gained from decades of experience to provide guidance, support, care and outstanding personal service to families at a difficult time.
