The Masterson Funeral Home joined Daniel Robinson & Sons in January 2021. The business was started in 2003, when Jerome Masterson Dip Fd LMBIFD, decided to open his own funeral home. He ran the business with his parents, Patrick and Elizabeth. The business benefitted from their excellent care, professionalism and dedication, to the bereaved in Old Harlow and the surrounding area. Following Jerome’s passing, Patrick and Elizabeth continued to offer the same high level of service until they decided to enjoy a well-earned retirement. This compact, warm and welcoming funeral home in Station Road, Old Harlow, has full facilities, including a Chapel of Rest. We offer our complete range of services, including traditional and contemporary funeral arrangements, design and production of service sheets, limousines, horse-drawn and bespoke vehicles, etc., to suit your wishes. History The business was first established in 1892 when Daniel Robinson bought a building company in Stansted, where he began to make coffins and to arrange funerals. In 1912 he purchased another in Bishop’s Stortford where he also arranged funerals and supplied memorials. By the year 2000, the company had grown to include offices in Harlow, Great Dunmow, Sawbridgeworth, Braintree and Epping. Today, we help people across Essex and Hertfordshire, with further funeral homes in Halstead, Loughton, Old Harlow and Waltham Abbey. The business is owned mainly by the third generation of the family founder, Daniel Robinson. Gary Neill, BCAv, MBIE, is the Managing Director of the Company and is based at the Head Office in Bishop’s Stortford.

ATTENDED FUNERAL (funeral director’s charges only)

Viewing of the deceased person for family and friends, by appointment with the funeral director (where viewing is requested by the customer)	£50.00
At a date and time you agree with the funeral director, taking the deceased person direct to the agreed cemetery or crematorium (normally within 20 miles of the funeral director’s premises) in a hearse or other appropriate vehicle	£1,025.00

For an Attended or Unattended burial funeral, the burial fee.¹ In this local area, the typical cost of the burial fee for local residents is: For a new grave, you will also need to pay for the plot; for an existing grave with a memorial in place, you may need to pay a removal/replacement fee. In addition, the cemetery may charge a number of other fees.	£155.00

The funeral director can give you a full list of what they can supply. They are likely to charge for these additional products and services, so you may choose to take care of some arrangements without their involvement, or you can use a different supplier.

1. This fee (which is sometimes called the interment fee) is the charge made for digging and closing a new grave, or for reopening and closing an existing grave.

2. In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, you will usually need to pay doctors’ fees as well. This is the charge for two doctors to sign the Medical Certificates for Cremation.
