Formed in 1927 by George Whitaker, the business has operated from the same premises for over 90 years and is an integral part of the local community.
George was joined by Maurice Leeson in 1936 and Norman Feather in 1947 and the pair took over ownership. Norman died in 1959 and Maurice continued to run the company until his death in 2002. Lyndon M Leeson joined the company from school and, after working with his father Maurice for many years, became owner of the business following Maurice’s death. Lyndon took what was a joinery and undertaking business and transformed it into the professional, independent funeral service it is today.
